- Fine art Paintings, sculpture, photography and works on paper, at home or in storage.

Why a separate valuables policy
- Higher limits than a home policy. Standard homeowners policies pay only limited amounts for jewelry, watches and similar items, often with a low cap for theft. A valuables policy is written for the value of what you own.
- Agreed value. Each item can be scheduled at an agreed value, usually supported by an appraisal or receipt, so there is less debate about what it was worth after a loss.
- Broader protection. Depending on the carrier, coverage can include accidental loss, mysterious disappearance and items that travel with you, including abroad.
- Keeping values current. Gold, diamond and watch prices move. We review your schedule periodically so that coverage keeps pace with the market.
How it works
- 1Inventory List the pieces you want covered, with receipts, certificates or appraisals where you have them.
- 2Appraisal For higher-value items, a recent independent appraisal is usually required.
- 3Schedule We obtain quotes and schedule each item, or set blanket coverage for smaller pieces where available.
- 4Review We revisit values and storage arrangements at renewal or when you buy something new.
Coverage, including agreed value, mysterious disappearance and worldwide protection, varies by carrier and policy and is subject to underwriting. Appraisals, security and storage requirements may apply. Pet insurance is subject to availability.

Renew and review
We review your coverage at each renewal and when your circumstances change.
Why work with an agency instead of buying directly from one insurer?
An insurer's own channel can only offer that insurer's policies. Through the Brightway network we can quote several carriers for the same home, car or business, compare coverage as well as price, and come back to the market at renewal if your premium rises or your needs change.
What does New York homeowners insurance usually cover?
A typical policy covers the dwelling, other structures, your personal property, additional living expenses if you have to move out during repairs, and personal liability. Flood damage is excluded from standard policies and is insured separately, which matters in many parts of New York City, Long Island and the Hudson Valley.
I own a co-op or condo. Do I still need my own policy?
Usually yes. The building's master policy protects the structure and common areas, while your own policy covers your unit's interior and improvements, your belongings, loss assessments from the building and your personal liability. Many co-op and condo boards require owners to carry it.
What is an umbrella policy and who needs one?
Umbrella insurance adds liability protection above the limits of your home and auto policies. It is often considered by people with significant assets, rental property, a pool, teenage drivers or a public profile, because a single serious claim can exceed standard limits.
How should I insure jewelry, art and watches?
Standard home policies limit what they pay for valuables, especially theft of jewelry. Scheduling items on a separate valuables policy, usually supported by a recent appraisal, can provide broader coverage, including accidental loss.
What does a small business typically need?
Most businesses start with general liability and property coverage, often combined in a business owners policy. Depending on what you do, commercial auto, workers' compensation and disability coverage required by New York law, professional liability or cyber coverage may also apply.
What information do you need for a quote?
For a home: the address, year built, square footage, construction and recent updates. For auto: drivers, vehicles and driving history. For a business: what you do, revenue, employees and locations. Your current policy declarations page is the easiest place to start.
General information only, not a description of any specific policy. Coverage, exclusions and availability depend on the carrier, the policy and underwriting.
